EBRD helps Mongolian small businesses. The EBRD’s Advice for Small Businesses (ASB), which in Mongolia is funded by the EU, helps small businesses to solve both management and operational problems by matching them with appropriate consultants. Molor Zam Company produces PVC windows and doors which are essential for Mongolia which registers some of the lowest and highest temperatures on the planet. The company benefited from the EBRD’s Advice for Small Businesses project to improve the overall management and increase the turnover in PVC window, door manufacturing. The local consultant helped increase efficiency by replacing old equipment, optimizing the use of the factory space and creating a more rational production sequence, thereby cutting production time. The company was also able to develop its first business plan which provided a solid strategy for future growth. Thanks to the project, the company introduced a machine to cut window fittings based on German technology which brought a new, higher quality product. Mass orders from construction companies are now easy to manage and deliver. With daily production increased from 20 windows a day to 64 higher quality ones, efficiency is paying off.
