An outdoor museum founded on remains of Kharakhorum city. It is the result of some 20 years archaeological studies of the capital city Kharakhorum of the thirteenth century Mongolia. The explorations and expedition in Kharakhorum city made a number of sources and information about the city’s history clearer and provided possibilities for building up a chronology of settlement history in the capital city of the 13th century Great Mongolian Empire. The archeological studies were launched in 1998 in the scope of cooperation between the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and the German Institute of Archaeology. Chief of Staff of the Presidential Office Mr Tsagaan received the German representatives following the outdoor museum launching cerempony and said that Mongolia had always paid close attention to the Mongolia-Germany joint project and would continue supporting it in future. In four years time from now Mongolia will celebrate the 800th anniversary of the establishment of Kharakhorum city.
