Mongolia signs landmark climate change agreement at UN. Past Friday, the Minister of Environment Green Development and Tourism, Mr. N.Battsereg signed the Paris Agreement on climate change on behalf of Mongolia. Thus Mongolia was one of the 170 member countries of the United Nations to sign this important document. The Paris Agreement is an agreement within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) dealing with greenhouse gases emissions mitigation, adaptation and finance starting in the year 2020. Many countries believe that the measures to counter climate change and global warming will take effect before the scheduled time of 2020, as a result of the Paris Agreement. U.S Secretary of State John Kerry, who came to the signing ceremony with his two-year-old granddaughter said: “Approving an agreement on the first day of a meeting sets a new record in international diplomatic relations.
