Civic participation in local governance strengthens. Capacity Strengthening of Local Self-Governing Bodies (CSLB) Project grants help strengthen Citizens’ Representative Khurals and enable local-level councilors to undertake a range of innovative projects aimed at increasing their constituents’ participation in decision-making processes. In the past two years the project awarded 25 grants to support national training programs for local councilors which focused on promoting green development and on improving decision-making. More than 10,000 local councilors were involved in the training and discussions on issues related to local development fund and other policy matters. The grants helped to increase public awareness of the role of Citizens’ Representative Khurals and councilors in formulating local policy on health, education and overall wellbeing of citizens.
