Consultative meeting with development partners was held. The meeting introduced the partners to Mongolia’s sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the government actions to meet them. Representatives from more than 40 development partners attended the meeting. One of the discussions during the meeting highlighted diversification of the economy. Government officials made it clear that economic diversification will be focused on the development of the agricultural sector. The development partners stated that they support the implementation of the government’s economic recovery agenda. Speaking at the meeting UN Development Program Resident Representative BeateTrankmann said, “Mongolia is one of the first countries to utilize the SDGs. It is beneficial that the agenda for sustainable development until 2030 has been passed. The extraction of resources is not the only factor that will help Mongolia in reaching its goals. It is important for Mongolia to focus on a wide range of sectors and shift towards environmentally friendly manufacturing. Mongolia has massive development potential. The country has enough resources, both human and natural, to intensify growth in the coming years. The government must focus on implementing the SDGs and spreading the economic benefits to all citizens.”
