The Russian and Mongolian Presidents have agreed to hold detailed talks on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Vladivostok early in September. President Putin said "We know you as a politician and a good athlete. I’d like to congratulate you on the Mongolian judokas’ very good performance at the present World Championship in Hungary." President Putin added that Russian-Mongolian trade was demonstrating fair dynamics this year. We evidenced a 20% slump past year, whereas the first 6 months of this year witnessed 34% growth." He called attention to progress made in along the political vector of bilateral relations, as much as in the economy and cultural ties. Specifically, he pointed out the active operations of Russian-Mongolian joint-venture companies and a growing volume of cargo haulage across the Russian-Mongolian border. Mongolian President Khaltmaagin Battulga said that he was especially pleased to meet Mr. President Putin in the brims of the judo championship. President Battulga voiced the hope that the detailed talks in Vladivostok would help promote further the bilateral relations and to promote the bilateral trade. President Battulga said the growth of bilateral trade mostly reflects an increase of trade between cross-border regions. In the light of it, I would like to suggest paying special attention to the cross-border cooperation in view of the fact the Russian-Mongolian border is more than 4,000 km long, noted Mr. President Battulga.
