Mongolia doubles capacity completing the second site. The country's second wind site was completed in early October, taking Mongolia's installed wind capacity to 100MW. The first Vestas turbine was installed at the Tsetsii project in June. The 50MW Tsetsii project, located in Tsogttsetsii, in southern Mongolia, is powered by 25 Vestas V110 2MW turbines. Partners in the project include Clean Energy Asia, a Mongolia-based renewable energy company established in 2012 as a joint venture between Japanese developer SB Energy and Mongolian infrastructure investor Newcom. It was financed by multilateral lenders, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Japan International Cooperation Agency. Tsettsii is Mongolia’s second project and comes four years after the opening of the first, the 50MW Salkhit site. At present, Mongolia has a power-supply capacity of 1,130MW, consisting of 88% coal and just 8% renewable energy, including hydropower sources, according to a 2015 report from the Department of Energy. It also helps bring closer the dream of SoftBank Group founder, Masayoshi Son, of establishing an Asian Super Grid project that also includes India and Japan.
