Safety the priority at Oyu-Tolgoi
For the construction projects, many internationally recognized companies such as Jacobs and Monadelphous are selected to work on the underground mine project at Oyu-Tolgoi.
Oyu Tolgoi is one of the largest undeveloped copper reserves worldwide with a series of deposits containing copper, gold and silver. An open pit has been in operation since 2012. To reach the mines greatest value, operations are now moving underground to develop a large block-caving operation. Oyu –Tolgoi's motto is the safety first. Because of the mega projects like this, Mongolia`s occupational safety and health standard have been tightening up. In 2008, Law on Labor Safety and Hygiene were adopted which was previously only included in the 6th chapter of Labor Code of Mongolia. For the construction projects, many internationally recognized companies such as Jacobs and Monadelphous are selected to work on the underground mine project at Oyu-Tolgoi. The recently selected company is Ampcontrol which is supplying a full range of electrical equipment to power the mine including jumbo, pump and fan starters, substations and distribution control boards.
