Ministry announces 2018 as year of energy saving and efficiency
In order to tackle increasing need of heating in the capital city, the members of the Ministerial Council agreed to announce 2018 as ‘Year of Energy Saving and Efficiency.’
In order to tackle increasing need of heating in the capital city, the members of the Ministerial Council agreed to announce 2018 as ‘Year of Energy Saving and Efficiency’ during the meeting of the Ministry of Energy. They considered it was proper to seek ways to cut down the improper use of energy as the city is expanding every year increasing the energy consumption excessively. The Council members made suggestions such as conducting actions to detect heat loss on the spot and resolve. In addition, the collaboration with construction companies in resolving buildings’ heat loss is encouraged. Moreover, they discussed issues including cancellation of project ‘Fifth thermal power plant’, legal environment of special licenses granted by the Ministry and works implemented in direction of energy saving and future plans. ‘Fifth thermal power plant’ project was initially implemented in 2011 to provide electricity to the eastern part of the Ulaanbaatar city. During meeting the project was considered to be inefficient as there were certain difficulties in addressing the issues regarding water, coal and railway.
