In order to reduce odor from the wastewater treatment Plant, new ultrasound technology at the plant will be implemented. Experts from Germany will conduct tests for the installation, and then the technology will be commissioned. The wastewater treatment plant processes 1200-1500 cubic meters sludge daily and the new technology will disinfect the sludge, thereby reducing the odor from the plant. The Ministry of Construction and Urban Development stated that further research is being done on re-using sludge as fertilizer for agricultural usage. Further, it is planned that two sedimentation tanks and a bio-pond will be built by July. Since its establishment in 1964, conditions at the wastewater treatment plant have deteriorated, and the plant has been processing more treated water than it was designed for. Officials hope that the new technologies will relieve over-use and, after treatment, will produce cleaner effluents.
