At the invitation of President of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Xi Jinping, President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa is participating in the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. On the sidelines of the Forum, President Khurelsukh visited the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China on October 19-20, 2023. Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa met with Communist Party Secretary of Ningxia Liang Yanshun and Chairman of Ningxia Zhang Yufu. At the Meeting, President Khurelsukh emphasized the importance of community relations and regional cooperation between the two countries in the Mongolia-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He expressed satisfaction with the cooperation between Bayankhongor, Uvurkhangai, and Umnugobi aimags in Mongolia and the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in China. The two sides agreed that there are ample opportunities for further cooperation in various fields, including agriculture, industry, environmental protection, combating desertification, renewable and green energy, culture, education, and tourism. President Khurelsukh also visited the Shapotou Desert Research and Experiment Station of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Kaisheng Smart Agriculture Industrial Park. Ningxia is located in the northwestern China. It is home to over seven million people, including a large Hui population. The region has an area of 66,400 square kilometers and is one of five ethnic minority autonomous regions in China.
