The 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification will be held in Mongolia from August 17 to 28, 2026. As part of the preparations for this conference, the Secretariat of the National Committee for Hosting COP17, in cooperation with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, is implementing a phased “National Training Program to Specialize Journalists in Environmental Reporting.” A key feature of this training is the participation of members of the “Green Press” journalists’ club, a national network of journalists specializing in environmental issues and climate change. The training was opened by D. Batmunkh, Secretary General of the National Committee and Head of the Secretariat, who introduced the preparations for COP17 and future plans, and provided detailed answers to journalists’ questions. Over the two-day training, participants will enhance their knowledge of climate change, desertification, and land degradation, and learn methods for disseminating information in line with international trends.
