January 13th celebrates adoption of the first democratic constitution of Mongolia. The original version of the 1992 constitution is placed in the Statehood Museum in the Government House on occasion of the 24th anniversary of adoption of the first democratic constitution. It is an annual tradition of placing the original copy of the new democratic constitution for a week in the Statehood Museum to demonstrate the history of its adoption to the public. Also, numerous events are held on the occasion including a wrestling competition, an amateur chess championship, as well as a photo exhibition. The first Democratic Constitution of Mongolia was amended two times in 1999 and 2001 respectively. The democratic constitution established a parliamentary democracy in Mongolia, guaranteeing freedom of religion, rights to expression, government setup, election cycle and other matters.
