Mongolia and China to cooperate against desertification. Mongolia and China agreed to cooperate in disposition of chemical waste and in combating the “yellow storms” during an official visit of Mongolian Minister of Environment, Green Development and Tourism. The two sides resolved to launch 3.9 million CNY worth of Monitoring and Evaluation project on Mongolia-China bordering regions’ desertification and yellow storms. Mr. Minister proposed organizing a consultative meeting between the two Ministries within this year. Chinese side expressed satisfaction with the initiation of cooperation in environment and with the experience sharing and expressed preparedness to cooperate in combating the shared problem of desertification and yellow storms. In addition, Mongolian side also expressed an interest to attend as an observer a tripartite environment ministerial meeting between Japan-China-South Korea , the largest operating mechanism of environmental cooperation in Northeast Asia.
