March 18 celebrates Soldiers’ Day in Mongolia.

March 18 celebrates Soldiers’ Day in Mongolia. The date for the holiday was chosen as the day of establishment of the Mongolian People's Army in 1921. This year celebrates the 95th anniversary of the Mongolian Armed Forces. Soldiers’ Day is the holiday to signify the tradition of Mongolian statehood, guarantee of the nation’s independence and patriotism, notes Mr President in his congratulatory message. In modern peaceful time, Mongolian armed forces focus on international peacekeeping operations, support to the border protection service and support for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations. At an international level, Mongolian soldiers are becoming soldiers of the world. Since 2002, some 13000 Mongolian servicemen took part in more than 20 UN peacekeeping operations and post war reconstruction actions. Currently 1000 soldiers are taking part in the UN peacekeeping operations. To celebrate the day military marching bands paraded from different points in the capital city and converged on the central square of Ulaanbaatar. Different art performances are being held for Soldiers’ Day.
