International Festival of Throat-Singing to be held.
International Festival of the Throat-Singing “to be held. A festival of Mongolia’s famous throat singing, known as “Khoomei", will be held on July 6-9, in Khovd Province. The Chandmani soum (district), in Mongolia’s westernmost province, is considered as being the birth place of “khoomei”. A research conference will also take place. The four-day long competition of throat singing will be attended by soloists and choirs from all around the world. The festival and competition aims to develop and preserve the performance tradition of “khoomei” by discovering and supporting talented young performers, sharing experiences and elevating the professional level of “khoomei” performers. The IV Khoomei festival is a biannual even.
