Healthy rangelands mean resilient communities, thriving wildlife and a sustainable future for Mongolia.
From droughts and dzud to growing environmental pressures, Mongolia's grasslands face increasing challenges. But local communities are showing that collective action can make a difference. At the UN Mongolia in the Blue Zone of the COP17, a panel discussion on community-led rangeland restoration and resilience was held and featuring ECCO-Farm’s innovative Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) approach in Bulgan aimag and WCSMongolia’s community-based wildlife and nature conservation efforts. These initiatives to support herder livelihoods and sustainable grazing and wildlife habitat. We are proud to feature some of the innovtative conservation initiatives that protect wildlife and maintain ecological connectivity across Mongolia's landscapes.
