More than half of the sum will be for the zero electricity night time tariff.

Mongolian Government approved MNT5 billion for fight against air pollution in 2017. More than half of the sum will be for the zero electricity night time tariff. Ulaanbaatar is one the world’s most polluted cities. The harmful dust is some 7 times higher than the most lenient World Health Organization targets. The air pollution causes severe respiratory illnesses. 80 percent of all emissions in the capital city come from domestic stoves which burn the raw coal for cooking and heating. Power stations burn 85 percent of overall coal use and produce 10 percent of emissions. Another 10 percent of air pollution comes from cars. Nearly 60 percent of all cars on the road in Ulaanbaatar are aged over ten years.
