The embroidery appliqué depicts the life of Chinghis Khan and the history and traditions of Mongolians in the 13th century with inclusion of the images of petroglyphs and deer stone.

Embroidery appliqué is being created based on the Secret History of the Mongols. The embroidery appliqué depicts the life of Chinghis Khan and the history and traditions of Mongolians in the 13th century with inclusion of the images of petroglyphs and deer stone. The embroidery appliqué project is filling 1.8 meters tall and 108 meters long felt. The project initiators decided that the public should have an opportunity to knot a thread on the historic art piece, therefore the appliqué has been travelling around the country. So far, more than 3,800 citizens from 19 provinces have contributed to the making of the appliqué, and eastern Mongolian province Dornod becomes the 20th to host the thread-knotting ceremony. Until now, 1 million 994 thousand meters of thread made of camel wool has been used on 100 meters long felt, and the project’s completion is expected in February to furthermore inaugurate the rare art piece in April in the capital city. The embroidery appliqué is planned to be registered in the Guinness Book of Records.
