Mongolia signed cooperation agreement with UNESCO. The signed comprehensive cooperation agreement is aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. With the timeframe period between 2016 and 2020, the memorandum of understanding covers all UNESCO’s areas of competence. It envisages the cooperation in promoting SDG4-education 2030 as it aims to promote inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning possibilities and also strengthen the science and technological innovation system. UNESCO’s areas of competence also extend to support the inclusive social development and promote culture-based sustainable development and improve mechanisms for access to information and knowledge. During the signing ceremony the Director-General of UNESCO, Mrs. Irina Bokova recalled her 2011 visit to Mongolia and appreciated Mongolia’s rich cultural diversity and its leadership role in the community of democracies.
