The second batch of a dzud-relief aid provided by the UN is on the way to the most vulnerable herder households. It contains fodder for livestock, minerals and drugs and the batch was dispatched on past Monday, March 13. Speaking at the ceremony Deputy Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh expressed gratitude to the UN for its continued support to Mongolian herders in dzud-affected regions. The UN-CERF funded aid will reach 3500 herder households in 36 soums of 13 aimags. Last December, Mongolian Government requested for humanitarian aids from international organizations operating within Mongolia, and the UN resolved to show assistance worth USD 1.1 million, and has been rendering supplies and aids to aimags in difficult wintering situation complementing the efforts of the Government. Before the traditional Lunar New Year which fell on February 27, the UN provided the first batch of its aid in the form of monetary support.
