The Mongolian National Museum is displaying an exhibition called “Culture of Ancient Cities” to unveil the most extraordinary finds belonging to the period of Khitan’s statehood.

The Mongolian National Museum is displaying an exhibition called “Culture of Ancient Cities” to unveil the most extraordinary finds belonging to the period of Khitan’s statehood, one of the ancient states that occupied the Mongolian land. About 200 pieces, recovered in the scope of Mongolian-Russian joint “Central Asian Nomadic Cities” project, are on public display. Some interesting pieces include rare finds discovered in the nobleman’s tomb of Pugu tribe dating from 677 A.D., toothbrush made from bone, porcelain sculpture of a human, potteries, fish bones, oyster shells and planting seeds, as well as the finds excavated from the Zaamar tomb, such as toys made of mud and wood, flag and memorial stone engraved with Chinese letters.
