UMA was awarded the Order of Sukhbaatar on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of inception and growth of contemporary fine arts in Mongolia.

The Union of Mongolian Artists was awarded the Order of Sukhbaatar on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of inception and growth of contemporary fine arts in Mongolia. Union of Mongolian Artists (UMA) founded in 1942 is the largest not-for-profit, non-governmental organization that unites more than 600 artists, living and working in Mongolia and abroad. Notably, UMA represents and promotes the visual art sector of Mongolia by hosting exhibitions, collaborating art organizations and supporting professionals in the fields of art, art history and design. At the award ceremony, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga highlighted artists and painters of Mongolia took active parts in initiating the democratic revolution of 1990’s and creating democracy in Mongolia. The President called on the artists to attach more importance to establishing a National Academy of Fine Arts, promoting the development of classical and national genres and disseminating conventional and contemporary fine arts knowledge. Order of Sukhbaatar named after the Mongolian revolutionary hero of 1921, Damdin Sukhbaatar is an award instituted in 1941 was previously awarded to Mongolians and foreigners for military and civil services. Since the 1992 constitution, the state award has been granted at the presidential decree to those individuals and organizations recognized by their honourable deeds promoting the country in their fields.
