Ice sculptures of the Palace of Westminster and the Beatles have been displayed at Sukhbaatar square
Ice sculptures of the Palace of Westminster and the Beatles have been displayed at Sukhbaatar square at the center of the capital Ulaanbaatar city in commemoration of the historic 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the UK. The unveiling ceremony was held on Tuesday with attendance from Deputy Minister of Foreign Relations, Deputy Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, Ambassador of the UK to Mongolia Catherine Arnold, and other representatives from the British Embassy. Ambassador Arnold noted that Mongolia and the UK cooperate in various fields, from peacekeeping operations to education, arts and culture. She wished for the diplomatic relation to grow deeper and bilateral partnership to expand. The ice sculptures were created by sculptor Batmunkh.Ts at the request of the British Embassy in Ulaanbaatar. Batmunkh.Ts and his team have experiences in participating in international ice sculpture competitions in the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China. The UK was the first western country to establish a diplomatic relationship with Mongolia in 1963.
