Mongolia's western province to organize ice festival
An ice festival ‘Mungulug Shagshuurga 2018’ will be held next Monday in Tumurt, Khar Us Lake in Khovd province .
An ice festival ‘Mungulug Shagshuurga 2018’ will be held next Monday in Tumurt, Khar Us Lake in Khovd province with aims to create tourism products that contain special feature of western Mongolian ethnicity, to make proud of the nature and national heritage, to develop winter tourism and public sports, to contribute to local economic development through increasing number of foreign and domestic tourists in Khovd province. In the scope of the festival various events will take place including regional junior and adult skate championships, regional championships of Uriankhai ice archery, cross country running competition, adults’ sumo wrestling competition, dancing competition and camel race. In addition, contests to select couples who wore the beautiful national ethnic costumes, children with deel and couples with good-looking horses and camels will be held. Khovd province is distinguished by its multi-cultural population. It is home to more than 17 nationalities and ethnicities. Each of these groups has its own distinct traditional dwelling and settlement pattern, dress and other cultural distinctions, literary, artistic, and musical traditions.
