Reindeer Festival to be held next month
The annual Reindeer Festival will take place at Lake Khuvsgul in early of July.
The annual Reindeer Festival will take place at Lake Khuvsgul in early of July. The festival will have an aim to enhance tourism in Khuvsgul province and promoting reindeer culture internationally. The festival will be organized for the fifteenth year with the purpose to advertise the unique lifestyle, culture, and customs of the Dukha or Tsaatan people living in most northern Khuvsgul province and improve livelihoods and increase incomes of the locals. The event will feature reindeer race and many interesting activities. Tsaatan is the Mongolian name for Mongolia’s reindeer people. The Tsaatan people in Mongolia represent the southernmost nomadic reindeer’s 3000-year-old culture in the world. For centuries the nomadic Tsaatan people have roamed the taiga of northern Mongolia, raising the reindeer that provide their livelihood.
