Efforts underway to open Chinggis Khaan airport by July 1

Minister of Road and Transport Development L.Khaltar had a virtual meeting with the CEO of the New Ulaanbaatar International Airport joint venture between Mongolia and Japan, responsible for the management of Chinggis Khaan International Airport, on March 26.
At the meeting, representatives of transport ministry departments and New Ulaanbaatar International Airport discussed preparations for the opening of the airport in Khushig Valley.
The company representatives gave updates on the progress of the transfer of staff that will be working at the new airport and the plan for the relocation of commercial flights.
Minister L.Khaltar said the commercial operations have to be moved in compliance with the concession agreement and Mongolian laws and resolutions. The Government made a decision to open the new airport on July 1, 2021.
