In 2022, Mongolia traded with 160 countries from all over the world, and the total trade turnover reached nearly 21 billion US dollars, of which exports were roughly 12 billion US dollars and imports were around 9 billion US dollars. The total foreign trade turnover increased by 5.2 billion US dollars, where exports increased by 3.3 billion US dollars and imports increased by 1.9 billion US dollars compared to the same period of the previous year. The foreign trade balance was in surplus of 3.8 billion US dollars in 2022 and increased by 1.4 billion US dollars compared to the same period of the previous year. In general, exports of mineral products, natural or cultured stones, precious metals, jewelry, and textile articles products made up 97 percent of the total export. On the other hand, almost 75 percent of the total imports was mineral products, machinery, equipment, electric appliances, base metals and articles thereof, transport vehicle and spare parts, and food products.
