Belarus to Support Mongolia's "One Billion Trees” National Campaign

Minister of Education and Science Enkh-Amgalan received the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Mongolia Dmitry Nikolayevich. At the onset, Minister Mr. Enkh-Amgalan highlighted the projects implemented by Belarus in the education, science, and agriculture sectors of Mongolia and expressed his gratitude for their successful implementation. According to the 2002 memorandum signed between the Mongolian Foundation for Science and Technology and the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research, 2-3 selected projects are financed annually. During the meeting the two sides discussed possibilities of expanding this cooperation, funding 3-4 projects per year. The two parties mutually agreed to cooperate within the framework of the “One Billion Trees” National Campaign, including cooperating with the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Belarus in inviting specialized forestry experts in Mongolia, sharing experience, conducting joint research on trees and shrubs suitable for Mongolia's soil and climate, and involving Mongolian experts in medium and short-term training in Belarus. The countries also agreed to collaborate to expand cooperation between universities, especially between the Mongolian University of Life Sciences and the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy. The Belarusian side expressed its support for increasing scholarships provided to Mongolian citizens and expanding cooperation in vocational education and training personnel. Moreover, the parties exchanged views on the 7th session of the Joint Commission between the Government of Mongolia and the Republic of Belarus on Trade, Economy, Science, and Technology Cooperation to be held in Minsk on January 22-24 of this year.
