Mentorship Programme for Mongolian Youth Launched

Densmaa 2020-09-23 12:09

On 18 September, the “All for YOUth, YOUth for all” project, funded by the European Union, launched its’ Mentorship Program for youth.

During the official launching of the Mentorship Programme, mentors and mentees were introduced to each other and were further guided towards fruitful mentoring. "I'm so excited to work and learn from my mentor. Actually, I was so nervous and excited about whether I’ll be selected or not when applying to the program. Now, I'm very happy to stand here and share my impressions. Good luck to the other mentees and mentors” said Tsogtbileg, a mentee of the program. The goal of the Mentorship Program is aimed at empowering young people, just like Tsogbileg, to enable them for personal development and better career prospects. “In the spirit of the Sustainable Development Goals, to tackle the challenges of today, we must work with and for young people to continue our fight on poverty, ensure youth can access their human rights, achieve gender equality, reduce the impacts of climate change and ensure lasting peace and inclusive societies for all Mongolians. This mentorship project will give these young people the skills they need to help us achieve the 2030 Agenda,” said Evgenia Faraza, EU Project Manager on behalf of the EU Ambassador to Mongolia, H.E. Traian Hristea. The mentors of the program are accomplished experts and professionals from various fields, namely, non-profit, international development, government, business, and academic sectors. Nearly 200 young people from across Mongolia applied to take part in this program, with 27 mentees selected. These mentees will have the opportunity to be mentored between September and December 2020. Each mentor is expected to work with their mentee for at least two hours per week. “At Caritas Czech Republic (CCR) we believe that in order to truly empower young people, we must give them the tools they need to lead. This mentorship program, thanks for financial support from the EU, twins young leaders with professionals to support them in their journey,” said Jana Zilkova, Head of Mission, CCR. This program is just one part of a larger “All for YOUth, YOUth for all” project to improve NGO capacities, increase youth employment and entrepreneurship, promote civic participation amongst young people, and promote volunteerism amongst youth.
