Temporary regulations on electricity and heat distribution and consumption approved

Densmaa 2020-12-17 03:12

On December 13, the Cabinet decided to exempt households and some enterprises from electricity, heat, water and waste fees for seven months.

At its regular meeting today, on December 16, the Cabinet approved the Temporary regulations on distribution and consumption of electricity and heat, defining the responsibilities of electricity and heat producers and consumers.

The government will be responsible for the bills for electricity and heat consumption not more than the consumer’s consumption of the same period of last year and the consumer shall pay the cost for extra consumption by themselves. If a consumer who paid MNT 30 thousand for heat or electricity in December 2019 consumes electricity worth MNT 40 thousand this December, for example, they will have to pay the MNT 10 thousand for the extra consumption.

Minister N.Tavinbekh informed that the Cabinet’s decision late last week was followed by a sharp increase in electricity consumption. On December 15, energy consumption reached 1308 MW, which shows an increase of 200 MW compared to the same period of the previous year or by 108 MW compared to the day before the decision was made.
