Mongolia and UNDP to Strengthen Development Cooperation
Mongolia and the UNDP reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable development, climate resilience, rural livelihoods, and women’s leadership.
Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh met with Lionel Laurens, UN Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Mongolia, on October 14 to discuss bilateral cooperation and updates to Mongolia’s Development Assistance Framework.
Minister Battsetseg highlighted the UNDP’s contribution to Mongolia’s development priorities and sustainable development efforts. She also thanked the organization for its support in preparing for the 17th session of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification Conference of the Parties (UNCCD COP17), held in Ulaanbaatar in August.
She expressed confidence in continued cooperation to implement the “Steppe Action” initiative following the conference.
For his part, Laurens congratulated Mongolia on successfully hosting UNCCD COP17 and the World Women Parliamentarians’ Forum, held in Ulaanbaatar on October 12–13.
He reaffirmed the UNDP’s commitment to supporting Mongolia in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, strengthening climate resilience, improving livelihoods in rural communities, and promoting women’s leadership, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
