Mongolia Explores Full Membership in Venice Commission
Mongolia has discussed the steps toward full membership in the Venice Commission to strengthen international cooperation on constitutional justice.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Munkhtushig Lkhanaajav met with Marta Cartabia, President of the Venice Commission, and Secretary General Simona Granata-Menghini on October 14 to discuss Mongolia’s prospects for becoming a full member of the commission.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the procedures and steps required for membership.
Munkhtushig noted that Mongolia’s Constitutional Court joined the World Conference on Constitutional Justice, organized by the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, in 2011. He also reaffirmed Mongolia’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the commission and expanding the Constitutional Court’s international relations.
Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Constitutional Court also attended the meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
