Established in 1921 at the initiative of military commander Damdin Sukhbaatar, the university was founded to train national military personnel in Mongolia. Over its 105-year history, it has trained generations of military commanders, officers and non-commissioned officers dedicated to safeguarding the country’s independence, sovereignty and national security.
Its graduates have contributed to national defense, peacetime military service and United Nations peacekeeping operations, with many earning recognition for their service.
Today, the university is expanding its education and research into emerging fields, including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, science, technology, innovation and unmanned aerial vehicles, to meet the evolving needs of Mongolia’s armed forces.
