Mongolia and Australia Hold Political Consultations in Canberra
Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and Australia were held in Canberra.
The two sides held a detailed exchange of views on the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations and cooperation. They discussed expanding cooperation in politics, defense, trade, agriculture, mining, energy, education, tourism, and consular affairs, as well as strengthening people-to-people ties. The sides also discussed visits and business, cultural, and artistic events to be organized next year to jointly mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Australia.
They noted that the Mongolian Government’s decision to establish a Consulate General in Sydney will be important in increasing exchanges between the citizens of the two countries and improving access to consular services. During the meeting, both sides confirmed their intention to elevate bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Partnership and finalized the draft document to formalize this new level of relations. They also exchanged views on international and regional developments, including common challenges facing the energy market, and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation through the United Nations and other international organizations.
The Mongolian delegation also visited Australia’s Crisis Coordination Centre and Diplomatic Academy to learn about their operations.
