Mongolia joined the global observance of World Food Day under the theme “Innovate Today, Nourish Tomorrow"
Speaking at an event held at the United Nations House, Mongolia’s Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of innovative solutions, advanced technology, science-based policies, and multilateral partnerships in building a safe, accessible, and sustainable food future.
She emphasized that for Mongolia, combining traditional knowledge and experience from pastoral livestock herding with modern science, technology, and innovation is important for developing sustainable food systems. In this regard, Mongolia’s “Steppe Initiative,” introduced within the framework of COP17, aims to strengthen the links between land, water, pasture, and food systems through integrated pasture and water-land management and nature-based solutions. Mongolia is also implementing national initiatives such as the “Food Revolution” and “White Gold” campaigns to strengthen food supply and security, increase domestic production, develop value-added products, and expand exports.
The country reaffirmed its intention to further expand cooperation with the United Nations system, including the Food and Agriculture Organization, and development partners to build sustainable food systems, strengthen sustainable pasture management, and support the livelihoods of herders and farmers.
