Mongolian female judo wrestler Sumiya Dorjsuren won Mongolia's first medal in Rio 2016 Olympics Games. Sumiya Dorjsuren, wrestled in women's 57 kg category of Rio 2016 Olympics' judo, grabbed the Silver medal and became the first Mongolian to stand on podium in this summer Olympic Games. After a first-round bye, she was challenged against the World Championships bronze medalist Sanne Verhagen from the Netherlands by a shido penalty, making it to the final eight. Our D.Sumiya defeated the famous Japanese judoka Kaori Matsumoto, claiming a clear victory at the 22nd second of the bout. In the final bout for Gold, she was defeated to Rafaela Silva of Brazil by a wazari. Mongolian judoka D.Sumiya became the 25th Mongolian and fourth female athlete to stand on the Olympic podium, with her amazing performance at the Rio Olympics Women's Judo. Sumiya was born in 1991, daughter to technician Dorjsuren and middle-school teacher Delgermaa of Baruunturuun soum of Uvs province, and lives with her parents and five younger siblings. D.Sumiya was awarded the title of State Honored Athlete of Mongolia and International Master of Sports. She is a three-time world champion of Sambo Wrestling. She is the oldest child in her family, has a sister and four brothers. Her family moved to Ulaanbaatar in 2000, and D.Sumiya started going to "Mongolian Girls" judo club in 2006. Sumiya competes in 57 kg weight category. She is an athlete of "Khilchin" sports committee and is a First Lieutenant.
