Chinggis Khaan Exhibition Opens in Berlin
Mongolian and German presidents have opened a Berlin exhibition showcasing the Mongol Empire’s history and highlighting decades of archaeological cooperation between the two countries.
Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh and German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier have inaugurated an exhibition titled “Chinggis Khaan and the World of the Mongols” in Berlin.
Held under the auspices of the two heads of state, the exhibition brings together archaeological discoveries from more than three decades of research in Mongolia, along with historical artifacts showcasing the Mongol Empire and the heritage of nomadic peoples.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, President Khurelsukh highlighted the importance of joint Mongolian-German archaeological research, particularly in the Orkhon Valley and the ancient capital of Kharkhorum. He said the exhibition would help international audiences gain a deeper understanding of the history, culture, and diplomatic traditions of the Mongol Empire.
German President Steinmeier praised the longstanding archaeological cooperation between the two countries, which began in 1999, and described Chinggis Khaan as one of the most influential leaders in world history.
The exhibition is expected to strengthen cultural and scientific ties between Mongolia and Germany while introducing Mongolia’s rich historical heritage to audiences across Europe.
