Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh and German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier held official talks in Berlin on October 20, as part of President Khurelsukh’s state visit to Germany. Following a one-on-one meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, which were elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2024, based on shared democratic values, human rights, fundamental freedoms, and the rule of law.
They emphasized the importance of expanding trade, economic cooperation, and investment, and discussed opportunities in industry, mineral resources, agriculture, food production, and light industry, including initiatives under Mongolia’s “White Gold” and “Food Supply and Security” national programs. The presidents also exchanged views on expanding cooperation in renewable energy, the green transition, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and e-governance.
Noting the 100th anniversary of educational cooperation between Mongolia and Germany, the two leaders agreed to promote joint research in education, science, and culture, and expand exchange programs for students, teachers, and researchers. They also highlighted the first-ever Mongolian-German Science Day, held during the visit, as an important step toward strengthening ties between universities and research institutions.
In addition, the two presidents discussed enhancing cooperation within the United Nations and other international organizations, and exchanged views on regional and global issues. President Khurelsukh’s state visit to Germany is scheduled to continue through October 22.
