Densmaa 2026-10-22 02:10

Mongolia and the U.S. CDC discussed cooperation on respiratory disease surveillance, pandemic preparedness, and public health capacity.

On October 20, representatives of Mongolia’s Ministry of Health met with a delegation from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), led by John MacArthur, CDC Southeast Asia Regional Director.

The meeting focused on a joint project to improve surveillance of influenza and other respiratory infections and strengthen preparedness and response to avian and pandemic influenza, as well as emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.

The project aims to improve early detection of public health threats, limit the spread of infections, and ensure timely response measures.

The participants also discussed future cooperation in establishing Mongolia’s National Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The U.S. delegation expressed its readiness to support cooperation in this area.
