Mongolia and Germany signed a Joint Declaration to strengthen their strategic partnership, expanding cooperation in education, science, defense, renewable energy, trade, and consular services.

Mongolia and Germany have signed a Joint Declaration to further expand and strengthen their strategic partnership during the state visit of Mongolian President Khurelsukh to Germany. The declaration was signed by Mongolia’s Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh and Bernhard Kotsch, State Secretary at the German Federal Foreign Office.

The document outlines priority areas for bilateral cooperation, including education, science, defense, security, trade and the green economy. Both sides agreed to continue supporting the German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology, strengthen scientific cooperation through initiatives such as the first-ever Mongolian-German Science Day, and expand scholarship opportunities for Mongolian students.

They also agreed to introduce German best practices in vocational education and training and implement joint programs in Mongolia. In defense and security, the two countries will strengthen cooperation between their armed forces and organize specialized training in United Nations peacekeeping operations and mountain infantry. To boost trade and economic ties, both sides will prioritize cooperation in renewable energy and accelerate the transition to a green economy.

The two countries also agreed to explore the mutual recognition of driving licenses and the possibility of concluding a social security agreement, with talks to be initiated on both matters. In addition, Mongolia announced the opening of its Consulate General in Frankfurt am Main.
