Mongolia and Berlin discussed expanding cooperation in urban development, education, science, and trade.

During his state visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa received a courtesy call from Kai Wegner, Governing Mayor of Berlin.

During the meeting, President Khurelsukh signed the Golden Book of Honored Guests of Berlin and wrote a commemorative message.

The two sides highlighted the important role of cooperation between Ulaanbaatar and Berlin in strengthening bilateral relations between Mongolia and Germany. They discussed opportunities to expand collaboration in urban planning, public transportation, housing, air pollution reduction, green space development, and infrastructure.

President Khurelsukh noted that Mongolia and Berlin have maintained close cooperation in education and science. He also highlighted Humboldt University of Berlin’s longstanding tradition of Mongolian studies and its longstanding collaboration with Mongolian universities and research institutions.

The two sides also highlighted the activities of Gobi JSC, a Mongolian cashmere manufacturer that operates an official store in Berlin and supplies products to German and other European markets through its European subsidiary, as an example of practical trade cooperation between the two countries.

During the visit, Mayor Wegner introduced President Khurelsukh to the Brandenburg Gate, one of Berlin’s most recognizable historical landmarks, and briefed him on the city’s history, transformation, and development.

Berlin’s Red City Hall, known in German as the Rotes Rathaus, is another major historical and architectural landmark. It houses the offices of the Governing Mayor of Berlin, the Senate Chancellery, and the city administration.
